United Way Welcomes New Board Members
The United Way of Central Arkansas welcomes eight new members to its’ Board of Directors: Kristy Carter, Bret Carroll, Wes Craiglow, Christa Davis, Sara Goodman, Matt Grissom, Reggie Rose and Debbie Townsend join the board led by Board Chair Traci Smith and Executive Director Maret Cahill.
Kristy Carter is Executive Director of Outreach and Community Engagement at UCA as well as a student in the PhD Leadership program at UCA. She is an executive board member for the Arkansas Distance Learning Association, former president of the Arkansas Council of Women in Higher Education and State Coordinator for the Women in Higher Education’s national office. Additionally, she is a member of the Arkansas Community Development Society and a member of Central Baptist College’s Business Advisory Council.
Bret Carroll is CFO at Conway Corporation. In 1988 he got his BBA in accounting at UCA and earned his MBA at UCA in 1996. He is a current member, former president and treasurer as well as a Paul Harris Fellow award recipient of Conway’s Rotary Club. He has served on boards at the Boys and Girls Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Holy Ghost Ministries and the Conway Area Chamber of Commerce. He was a recipient of the Arkansas Business ‘40 under 40’ award. He has served on several mission teams and is an active member at Second Baptist Church in Conway.
Wes Craiglow is the Deputy Director of Planning and Development for the City of Conway. He earned his BA in 2004 and MS in 2010 from UCA, is a 2009 graduate of the Community Development Institute and was recently inducted into the American Institute of Certified Planners. After enlisting in the Army, he completed Airborne and Ranger training, served in various enlisted and officer positions with the Corps of Engineers, Infantry and Special Forces units and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He serves as an adjunct instructor within UCA’s Community and Economic Development graduate program, owns a small media company, Central Overland, promoting vehicle-based adventure travel and remains active with several volunteer boards and committees in member and ex-officio status. Wes resides in Conway with wife, Emily,daughter, Makayla and newborn son, Murrell.
Christa Davis is the Director of Parent Engagement at Hendrix College. Prior to moving to Conway in 2011, she co-founded Trike Theatre in Bentonville, AR. Christa also started appledoodles, an online, monogrammed baby gifts business. She graduated from Davidson College with a BA in theatre and worked with professional theatres in Virginia, North Carolina, New Hampshire, and Arkansas. She lives in The Village at Hendrix with husband, Ward, and their two children, Catherine and Hunter.
Sara Goodman, CPA, is taking over as treasurer of the UWCA board. She joined PrivacyStar as the Director of Finance in October 2010. She is responsible for the day to day financial needs of the business and also handles any Human Resource concerns. Before PrivacyStar, Sara worked as a Staff Accountant at American Management Corporation. She also worked in public accounting while completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from UCA. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Arkansas Society of Certified Public Accountants. She lives in Conway with her husband, Lane, and three children and actively attends New Life Church.
Matt Grissom is a life-long resident of Conway and the Broker/Owner of Grissom & Company Real Estate. He is the third generation of his family to make his mark by selling and developing real estate in Conway. He is currently a member of Faulkner County Future Fund and excited to be a new board member of United Way of Central Arkansas. Matt is the proud father of a two year old boy, Jett, and enjoys spending time with family, playing basketball, and being active in the community.
Reggie Rose is the General Manager at Centennial Valley Country Club. He received his BSBA in 1997 from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He is a current Commissioner of the Conway Advertising and Promotion Commission and board member of the Petit Jean Razorback Club. He is a former longtime board member of the Boys and Girls Club of Faulkner County. Reggie resides in Conway with wife, Natalie, and two children, Will and Ella.
Debbie Townsend is a Vice President and Loan Officer at Summit Bank in Conway. She graduated from UCA with a Business Degree. She is active in the Vilonia Community, serving as past president of the Vilonia Area Chamber and is the Chairman of the Administrative Council of Vilonia United Methodist Church. Currently, she is a member of the Conway Noon Lions Club, served as a FCLI Curriculum Leader for several years and is a member of Faulkner County Homebuilders. Debbie lives in Vilonia with her husband, Marc.
